Northern California Nissan Dealers offering EV Charging

Nissan has taken the lead in offering public charging stations for electric vehicles. EV charging stations can be found at Nissan dealerships throughout Northern Californa.

Nissan Leaf

Nissans newest and most notable addition to the EV world is the Nissan Leaf which was designed to go about 100 miles on a charge. Actual range varies from 62 to about 138 mile with most of the difference being in how fast you are trying to go and if you are using air conditioning or heating in the cabin, both of which use more power.

The leaf is a fully electric vehicle, while other manufacturers use a gas generator or other means to increase distance the Leaf relies entirely on its batteries. The Nissan leaf is a 5 passenger vehicle that can go up to 90 mph.

The Leaf comes with a 3.3 kw onboard charger and a 120 volt trickle charger cable. The SL model comes with a quick charge port. If you have the time, you can charge up anywhere with a home charging dock which takes 240 volt or use the onboard charger. For a bit extra you get the quick charge capability.

One interesting change for most cars, likely to save room (for batteries) and weight, the Leaf comes with a tire repair kit instead of a spare tire. There is also a photovoltaic solar panel rear spoiler to help trickle charge your batteries, at least if you are parking in the sun instead of shade.

As you have probably guessed it's not only the California Nissan dealers that are offering the Nissan Leaf. Midway Nissan Peoria AZ is one of the Nissan Dealers in AZ with a selection of the Leaf as well and there are many others in the western part of the US.
